Donut Guy Gets the Affiliate Manager Job
I’ve gotten word that Greg “Donut Guy” Hoffman got the job. A couple weeks back, Greg posted on ABestWeb that he was trying to get an affiliate management job, and in an effort to stand out, he personally delivered a dozen Dunkin’ Donuts to the company. He later shared that he got a first, then a second interview. And as of yesterday, he got the position of Affiliate Network Director at Think...

Brand Yourself on YouTube
There are some powerful, yet underutilized features on YouTube that you ought to be using. One of my favorites is the option to pick your own Channel URL within the Channel Settings. If you haven’t already customized this area, your URL looks something like this: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=affiliatetip. So go in there and set a short, customized URL for yourself. Looks like the FTC investigation is just a formality and their main concern is how much data Google now has access to rather than any monopolistic issue. What is Affiliate Marketing?
This is chapter 1, “What is Affiliate Marketing?,” of the video edition of my book, Successful Affiliate Marketing for Merchants. In brief, I usually describe affiliate marketing as the online equivalent of Avon. Back when I was growing up, we had the Avon lady in the neighborhood. She would sell cosmetics door to door, and if she made a sale, she earned a commission. It’s as simple as that...

Google DoubleClick Performics in Peril?
The Federal Trade Commission has opened a preliminary antitrust investigation into Google’s planned $3.1 billion purchase of the online advertising company DoubleClick, according to a report in the New York Times. I’m starting off the video edition of Successful Affiliate Marketing for Merchants with an introduction to the book. This will be followed in the near future by a thirteen part video series on each of the chapters of the book. The book is a little outdated at this point. Comment on Finding Affiliate Programs by Ideas For...
The attractive and exciting idea about joining affiliate programs is that they give you everything you need to start generating internet income right away. Well that is how it seems anyway. You get your own custom affiliate website, banners and pre-written ad, a list of online advertising hot spots, etc. They say all you need to do is plug in and profit. Does it really happen that way? Not...

You’ll prolly say test: but how far/what are the parameters will you have for your test? Absolutely. You’re not going to find a list of performing affiliate programs anywhere. Also, an affiliate program that performs well is in the eye of the beholder. I use the EPC and eCPM of the other programs i am promoting as a benchmark. After a test, if a given affiliate program doesn’t equal or...

Finding Affiliate Programs
How do I find companies that have affiliate programs? One thing you could do is just go into Google and search for “affiliate directory.” You’ll then see a list of the leading affiliate directories, which you can use to find companies by name and category that offer affiliate programs. Also, you could go to the bigger affiliate networks, such as Commission Junction, Kolimbo, LinkShare,...

Affiliate Coupon Sites
How do you keep the coupons current on an affiliate coupon directory? It’s a pretty simple procedure, though a little bit laborious. Just keep on top of all of the affiliate newsletters and RSS feeds for the affiliate programs you promote. Make the updates to your site as you receive them from the advertisers. I would urge you to refrain from “borrowing” coupon codes from the affiliate sites of...
